NOTES:

Often included with advertisements, ink blotters, like trade cards, were a good way to attract potential customers. Because people kept them on their desks, the advertiser’s message would always be in front of them, and generate way more advertising ‘impressions’ than many of the conventional trade cards. Ink blotters were popular in the days of fountain pens. They are typically thicker than your standard trade card as they were used to help wipe the excess ink from the tips of the pen.

This "1932 Home Schedule of the Memphis Team," the Chickasaws, ink blotter features a "Wood & Company" advertisement. The border surrounding the schedule reads: "We Specialize In Financing Salaried People - Money For All Purposes - On Your Own Schedue - $5.00 And Up" The Memphis Chicks were a Minor League Baseball team that played in the Southern Association from 1901 to 1960. They were located in Memphis, Tennessee, and played their home games at Russwood Park.

The design of this ink blotter, has a baseball at the top, as wrapped in paper coming out of the box. The ball reads: "Horse Hide Cover, Official Base Ball" The same ink blotter design was used for a New York Giants, Dodgers, and Yankees home schedule in 1933.
