This 1995 clad Half Dollar proof was
minted in accordance with the 1992
Olympic Commemorative Coin Act, which
was passed by Congress and signed into
public law by President George Bush on
Oct, 6, 1992. This historic
collectible, legal tender of the United
States, has been specially minted to
commemorate the 100th anniversary of
the modern Olympic games, and to help
support the United States Olympic
movement.
The
1992 Olympic baseball coin d depicted
a pitcher throwing a fastball to home
plate, that had similarities to the
1991 Fleer Nolan Ryan Card. Careful
this time not to depict any particular
athlete, the 1995 design features rear
views of an umpire and catcher
stationed behind home plate as a player
at bat stands ready to swing.
The observe of this half dollar is the
work of Edgar Z. Steever, of the U.S.
Mint Staff. The reverse design combines
the Olympic 100 anniversary logo,
Atlanta with United States
Of America, Half Dollar along the
perimeter, and is the work of T. James
Farrell. Maximum mintage for this
coin was set at two million coins. The
proof version was struck at the mint in
San Fransico, the uncirculated version
at Denver
